WhatApp company is launching the new feature that is to help users track their friends’ statuses more effectively. The status section of the extremely used messenger is to have an update in the Chats tab that will not require the user to switch to another tab to view previous updates. This leads to a better environment when trying to retrieve content that has been shared by contacts.
WhatsApp's New Status Shortcut Seamless Updates Right from Your Chats
It is also introduced as part of features, which added in WhatsApp to make it closer to Facebook or Instagram, both of which belong to Meta. To this end, by incorporating status updates into the Chats tab, WhatsApp should increase user activity and frequency of their updates.
Of similar importance, this change will allow users to go back to the Status Updates section, in case they have missed any updates, without having to go through so many sections on the app’s home screen. For those that frequently post pictures, videos, and/or text updates of one’s status this could help make usage of the site more fluent and coherent.
The change aligns with Meta’s approach to integrating applications but maintaining homogeneity within the application space. It could also maybe help the company to attract new users who are in need of a more centralized messaging and social app.
It’s believed that the particular feature may be launched progressively with pilot testing to be conducted with limited user targeting. If so, it can quickly grow into a regular feature of the Gutenberg editor for WhatsApp that suggests a new approach to communicating with friends and acquaintances.
WhatsApp's New Status Shortcut Revisit Updates with a Simple Tap from Chats
In recent days, recent beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS have a handy new feature for folks who frequently check status updates. Now, it is possible to go back to previous viewed statuses from the Chats tab section without having to surf through the entire page. It is a small and sensible change that is aimed at enhancing the flow of shared content in their feeds with the contacts.
Before this, WhatsApp added a feature indicating that a new status was posted, there is a colored ring around a contact’s profile picture. This ring was useful to signal to click more to view the latest changes. This meant that after viewing, the ring would change color to gray in indication that the status had been observed.
But in previous releases, the ring would disappear in its entirety when the status was read making it impossible for users to easily return to it from the Chats icon. This made it compulsory to navigate through the Status section only, in search of a contact’s recent updates, hence adding another layer.
With the new feature, the gray ring around the profile picture in the Chats tab will remain a natural interface allowing users to revisit updates without going back to the main view of the chat. This adjustment certainly makes it much easier to stay on top of the content that contacts are posting.
Generally, with the help of this update, WhatsApp brings its user experience to another level by organizing the platform’s interface. It’s a small detail but quite revolutionary in terms of Meta’s plan to make the messaging apps work more like traditional social networks.
WhatsApp's New Gray Ring Revisit Status Updates Without Leaving the Chats Tab
New in WhatsApp; the ring around a contact’s profile picture in the Chats tab will no longer turn invisible after viewing a status update. It will turn to gray instead, at least in order to indicate that the update has been seen while at the same time making it is easily accessible. This little change makes the status viewing experience much better.
The change makes it easier to go back to previous status updates that have been checked, there is no need to navigate between the Chats and Status tabs. It means that users can now do all the above actions without the extra steps required to find the necessary update in the Chats tab.
Today, it is enabled with restrictions for beta testers both on iOS and Android which allow early adopters to feel the difference. Some of these users will probably send their feedback to enhancing the last version before promulgating the application to the general public.
This change is in line with an ongoing process of improvement of the app as a means of sharing and viewing the status updates that are shared within the active groups. This is in addition to the application’s continuous process of hybridization of messaging and social communication.
It is still limited to beta users at the moment but a broader uptake is anticipated in the coming months for everyone on WhatsApp. Not only does it improve the organization and structure of the website, but it also follows the Meta style of improving accessibility and integration of its platforms.
