Telegram has rolled out a feature called “Stars” – an internal currency to assist users in supporting creators. This feature also enables users to buy services directly from mini-apps observed inside the platform meaning that the means through which individuals interact with content is diversified.
Telegram announces ‘Stars’, to help creators manage gifts featuring NFTs
The debut of “Stars” is timed to the changes that recently occurred in Telegram; its CEO, Pavel Durov, was arrested in August. Certain global policies that were in use by the app have had to be done in light of this event and these have had an effect on user of the app across the globe.
Indeed, one of the features of this new edition is the addition of NFTs. Non-active at the moment, 96% of NFTs will be linked to a new Telegram service, called “Gifts.” This will allow users to share individual customized Multimedia Messaging Service animated pictures and greetings.
Gifts can be shared as celebration stickers which makes communication on the platform more personalized. These gifts can be converted into NFT through the use of a blockchain technology, just because they have a unique feature.
It gives Telegram a different model from other messaging application like WhatsApp and Instagram that have not introduced virtual assets like Telegram. This decision indicates that Telegram continues developing new Web3 technologies and intends to help creators in fresh ways.
How are Gifts linked with NFTs?
Telegram is launching a revolutionary feature based on using Telegram’s “Gifts” linked to NFTs by TON technology. This expands consumers’ previous opportunities to exchange personalized gifts as special edition tokens to engage in novel means of digital communication.
Because these gifts are turned to NFTs, they can be bought, sold, and traded beyond Telegram and users have more freedom when it comes to assets. Possession of these gifts’ will be safely recorded on the disclosed blockchain addresses.
The beneficiaries of these NFT gifts will be allowed to share them on their Telegram profile which will bring a new level of personalization and exclusivity into their profiles. It also allows them a special platform to display their digital assets.
It is the first foray into NFTs for Telegram and with this release it sets itself apart from the messaging apps competition. When combined with the blockchain, Telegram allows users to consider Web3 opportunities to explore.
With the help of a new link between Gifts and NFTs, Telegram is increasing the possibilities of digital goods, opening up opportunities for active interactions between users for both entertainment and to support creators.
Telegram Pioneers NFT Integration, Leaving WhatsApp and Instagram Behind in the Web3 Revolution
Currently, no other messaging apps apart from Telegram has been willing to put NFT as some of its primary features. Unlike such apps as WhatsApp and Instagram that have not ventured into the realm of virtual assets, Telegram is already going all in within Web3, offering users new tools to experiment within the digital assets space.
It also makes Telegram unique as the first messaging app to consider using NFTs. In this manner, Telegram offers more control to the user’s digital collectibles and they are also able to buy, sell or trading them in a secure way by the use of blockchain technologies.
An NFT means non-fungible token and that is a digital asset that is based on the blockchain architecture. It can be in any theme possible, such as art, music, cartoons etc as well as present rare and valuable content for the collectors.
However, mostly NFT has a money implication and it provides certain privileges to people who own them. This is an interesting innovation to the Telegram’s platform where users can create value out of their interactions in digital platforms.
The integration of NFTs also helps not only creators but also users avoid existing Web3’s financial risks, which have not been addressed by other applications for messaging.
